Peat poems
This past Fall, in Ireland, Peat had my full attention. Here is a group of visual poems that I made during a 6-week Fellowship at Ballinglen Arts Foundation. Peat gave me something to dig in to, a material and conceptual way connect to the Irish landscape. My current segue into Coal and Extraction springs up from this peat work and is leading into a confluence of exciting opportunities coming up in the next year or so. More on that later.
Everything always circles back.
The Peat Poems employ the 3-lobed form of an industrially produced peat briquette. They spell words that hint at the ravages of industrial-scale fossil fuel extraction on Irish bogland.
